Date: Feb 19, 1998 12:47 AM Bill Wexler's model short portfolio... ATHM I decided to start this thread to discuss my very favorite short ideas and to create a model portfolio. Since stocks have decided never to go down again, and it's a bygone conclusion that we are in a permanent bull market, I was curious to see how these particular stocks would perform. LOL!! That gives me an idea...maybe we should list some of the fine investment pardigms which has caused so much grief for their investors/victims...and so many profits for short sellers. ZITL - mobile Y2K code factories..."the
contract is on my desk". |
I covered TRBO a while back. Nothing has changed which would suggest that TRBO's is worth anything near what its trading at, but I'm personally not in the mood to reenter a new short position on it just yet. My top short pick right now is DTLN, followed by ALTIF, GBUR, ZONA, and HEPH. |
<<can we discuss shorts>> Of course. Note I said both grossly under and OVER valued stocks. A company can be overpriced and still be a dog (fundamentally). ZONA, RACE, ABTE, etc. etc. etc. |
A quick check on Mr. Wexler's recent short picks: NASDAQ screams up over 100 (4%) today and... The CCSI stock fraud down 2% to 9
The NYSE up nearly 200 and 2% today while... DRD down 2% at 30 1/8 |
BILL WEXLER'S NEW (AND ONGOING) PICKS (9/4/99} Long AAPL GUV/AB (NEW POSITION) 10% Short BTX [SPF] GOV/SS +10% |
TO THE THREAD... Have any of you noticed the following? We are in a market where you have stocks like CMRC that make 70 point moves in one day. There are tons of great tech names there making lots of people lots of money. yet... Why is it that when I look on the SI hot list, I inevitably see the fraud stock du jour near the top. Example GUMM, RACE, *IDX, VLNC, etc. And inevitably, you'll see them after some bullshit press release sends the stock flying a whole buck or two for another pump and dump. Just goes to show you how important hot air is to fraud stock touts. [* Records on West Highland's ownership of IDX vary; NASD records show it held the stock; SEC records do not]. |
